KC FABRICATIONS, INC.
Awarded Bronze Name Parapets for National September 11 Memorial at World Trade Center site.
New York City, New York, USA.
During 2009-2010, KC Fabrications was included within the select group of nationally renown Art Fabrication and Construction companies bidding on the fabrication and installation of the Bronze Name Parapets* for the National September 11 Memorial. KC Fabrications co-owners Christopher Powers and Kurt Wulfmeyer presented a unique engineering shift within their bid. Their idea was to bend instead of weld the large plates of bronze to accomplish the Memorial's and architect Michael Arad's structural and aesthetic goals. The bending of bronze amongst other ideas for fabrication and installation not only saved the Memorial a substantial amount of money but also created a strategic installation plan that would begin fabrication and complete installation of the Bronze Name Parapets in one year's time before September 11, 2011. KC Fabrications was awarded the project in 2010.
KC Fabrication's vision realized the Bronze Name Parapets through the intelligence of exacting mechanics and the sensitivity of the human hand throughout its finishing and patination. It has been a great honor to contribute this accomplishment for the Memorial, the families of the victims and all the trades who dedicated to its completion.
*The Bronze Name Parapets are the structure of bronze incised with the names of all the victims from September 11, 2001 as well as World Trade Center bombings of 1993. The bronze Parapets outline the edges of the North and South waterfall pools, the former footprints of the North and South Towers.
